Knock, knock; who's there?

This is how each (play)day begins. The reason I say (play)day is because Claire has decided that the day doesn't begin until she has eaten breakfast and changed into her outfit of the day. As of late, these outfits include one of her swimsuits (a princess one that Grandma bought her), a princess dress with mom's high heels, an old pair of pants that are too short, or one of her skirts with a random shirt of her choice. I don't mind because she is pretty good about changing clothes when I need her to. It's all about picking your battles, right!?

After changing out of pj's, she will look at me with wide eyes and say, "Mommy, _____ is at the door. Please go let _____ in." Each day it is a different person/character/who knows that comes to play with her. For example, this week we had the following over to play: the Beast (from Beauty and the Beast), the dragon (from the book "The Paperbag Princess"), the snowman from our backyard (now melted away), a bear (from the book "The Mitten"), a Prince, and a few others that I don't have a clue where they came from. She takes them by the hand up to her playroom where they proceed to have breakfast, play with toys, sleep in her tent, and a host of other activities. When it is snack time, she divides out her snack for them. She also gets them a blanket and pillow for nap time. Often times, instead of taking a nap, she will play in her room for an hour with them. Although it's sometimes a little frustrating because I need her to take a nap, it also cracks me up that she can talk to the wall for an hour and be completely and totally entertained! I LOVE living with a 2 year old! It makes life so fun!
